James is a British contemporary artist celebrated for his dynamic fusion of classical painting techniques with the raw energy of graffiti and urban culture. Currently based in Glasgow, he serves as a staff tutor at the City and Guilds of London Art School. Jessop's work is characterised by large-scale oil paintings that parody B-movie horror posters, blending pop culture with classical art references. He views a well-executed graffiti tag and a classical oil painting as equally significant, challenging traditional art hierarchies. Beyond his studio practice, Jessop engages with broader audiences through collaborations, such as the Polo Ralph Lauren Art Stars project, and media appearances, including a feature on BBC One's The Apprentice UK in 2012.
